Converse never ventured into the music industry. Their brand was just a blank canvas...but music saw itself in them, year after year, generation after generation. In recent years, Converse's music tradition has changed and risen as they spotted the potential of young superstars around the world. Since then, Converse and music have been inseparable!

The Converse CREATE NEXT campaign introduces you to new superstars whose careers are just about to or have already taken off!

In our second blog post we are going to talk about Zelma who comes directly from the snowy Latvian forests.

Do not worry if you do not know who she is, but know that you are truly sleeping on him. Besides his cool music, she´s an avid Converse fan and reps their clothing line everywhere she can.

Q&A:

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your music?

I’m Zelma aka VIŅA. I’m a musician from Latvia. I’m in the professional music scene since the year 2014. I do different types of music so I don’t really have one word or a box to fit all of it in. I’ve experimented with rock music, rap music, electronic music, and different instruments and atmospheres. I write my own lyrics in Latvian and English and compose my own melodies.

What inspires you in life and what inspires your music/lyrics?

Because I grew up surrounded by forests and meadows I’m inspired by nature a lot. Also, drama inspires me - all the ups and downs in one’s life. I'm inspired by people whether they are good or bad, interesting or surprisingly boring. I often spend hours totally lost in wonderful conversations with my good friends or family members, sometimes strangers or inner conversations with myself and all those can be very inspiring. Also, I love to travel, hitchhike, and sleep under the clear sky with a hammock and a bonfire, and that kind of adventure inspires me a lot.

Do you have a favorite Converse model? If so, why? Maybe you have a story about your first Converses or a cool Converse experience.

Converse Wmns x Space Jam”. I have never gotten so many compliments about any other piece of footwear as I have for these. These shoes are colorful, funky, and extremely comfortable. My favorite pair to wear on the stage.
