Converse never ventured into the music industry. Their brand was just a blank canvas...but music saw itself in them, year after year, generation after generation. In recent years, Converse's music tradition has changed and risen as they spotted the potential of young superstars around the world. Since then, Converse and music have been inseparable!
The Converse CREATE NEXT campaign introduces you to new superstars whose careers are just about to or have already taken off!
In our first EP and blog post, we travel to Lithuania to meet an electronic music artist and multi-format DJ. JUSTICIOUS is the star of today's spotlight.
Do not worry if you do not know who he is, but know that you are truly sleeping on him. Besides his cool music, he's an avid Converse fan and reps their clothing line everywhere he can.
Q&A:
Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your music?
I'm a recording artist, producer, and a DJ and I'm also very into fashion and streetwear. As an artist, I like my music very personally from the topics of the songs to do as much as I can by myself - I produce and compose my own tracks, write my lyrics, and sing, I also used to make all the artworks and videos for my music but now I often try to stick to what I do best to make the best music I can. In more than a decade of creating music, I went through many genres, although my whole music path started from hip-hop and I paved my way to where I am now making beats for local rappers & artists, I am very into creating music in diverse contemporary pop subgenres such as hyper pop or bedroom pop, which blend many of my passions for lo-fi beats, exaggerated electronic music and "guilty" pleasures of pop music.
What inspires you in life and what inspires your music/lyrics?
Both in life and in music, I get inspired by nice musical chords and timbres, quick moments of euphoria in live concerts, slow moments of happiness in romantic endeavors and friendships, pleasing cuts and fabrics, and interesting shapes of soles of my favorite clothes, and kicks and obviously creating unrealistic characters for my art to speak up about things I'm too humble to express IRL.
Do you have a favorite Converse model? If so, why? Maybe you have a story about your first Converses or a cool Converse experience.
Converse x Golf Le Fleur Gianno - they look bulky and heavy but once you try them on - they're comfy AF, they blend the retro feel with an outdoorsy aesthetic and they represent one of my favorite art masterminds - Tyler, The Creator.
